The Graton Tribal Library increases educational opportunities, across multimedia platforms, for tribal families to share and reflect the unique and rich cultural heritage of Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo peoples.
A Resource for Our Community
The purpose of the Graton Tribal Library webpage is to promote access to relevant and historically accurate information on the culture of Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo from Marin and Southern Sonoma Counties to our tribal citizens, extended families, and the general public. The resources and information to be provided will encourage lifelong intergenerational learning, promoting cultural awareness while utilizing existing digital technologies. We aim to provide cultural and contemporary materials and services to support the personal, educational, cultural, and professional needs you desire.
It is hoped this approach will promote greater cultural appreciation of our ancestors that have survived many hardships, which has allowed the tribe to flourish today. Additional features will be added to this website over time based on the needs of our tribal community stakeholders, including new cultural resources and information that is useful to our patrons. We are diligently working to create programs and materials with a special emphasis placed on supporting students at all academic levels, as well as stimulating young children’s interest and appreciation for reading and learning.
We thank you in advance of your visit and look forward to your feedback regarding how best the tribal library can serve your needs. This webpage was developed by the tribe with funding assistance from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, 2015 Native American Enhancement Grant, Award # NG-03-14-0009-14.
